Augustus 'Gus' J. Campbell

Augustus "Gus" J. Campbell, 89, a lifetime resident of Northern Nevada, died Jan. 12, 2006, at his home in Carson City.

He was born March 19, 1916, in Genoa, to Joseph J. and Irene Dake Campbell. He attended and graduated from Genoa schools.

He married Margaret Lerette on Oct. 14, 1946, in Gardnerville.

Mr. Campbell worked for Sierra Pacific Power Co. as a lineman and truck driver.

He served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a Catholic and enjoyed traveling and working around his home.

He was preceded in death by his son Gilbert Fortier in 2005; great-grandson Jason Peterson; and several brothers and sisters.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; sister and brother-in-law Jere and Dennis Heitman, of Idaho; grandchildren Donna Peterson of Alaska, Sharon Hicks of Carson City, and Mike Fortier of Florida; four great-grandchildren; and several extended-family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Cremation under director of Walton's Sierra Crematory. No services will be held at his request.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
