A man remained in custody Monday after allegedly trying to run down a deputy in an east Carson City parking lot.

Jamie Wise, 20, who has no known address, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic device.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 1700 block of Russell Way for a report of someone trying to kick in an apartment door. As deputies Brian Mays and Doug Speegle pulled into the complex parking lot, two vehicles were backing out quickly from parking spaces in front of the building. The deputies used their vehicle to block the exit of a Chevy Cavalier.

"As we were walking toward (Wise) in the vehicle to make contact, (he) drove toward Mays at a high rate of speed. Deputy Mays had to move out of the way of the Chevy Cavalier, or he would have been struck by the front of it. Mays was close enough to the vehicle as it was coming at him, he left his hand print on the front of the hood," the report states.

Wise then allegedly tried to flee and drove toward Speegle before ramming a patrol vehicle and becoming stuck. During a search a hypodermic needle was allegedly found in Wise's right front pocket.

Wise is being held on $20,132 bail.
