A memorial service for Robert H. Long, 75, a Carson City resident for nearly 40 years, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Community Church in Minden with the Rev. Brian Borgman officiating.

Mr. Long died Jan. 25, 2006, in Carson City. He was born March 12, 1930, in Avon, Ind., to John and Georgia Long.

He was one of 15 children. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army for three years and was honorably discharged in 1950.

He married Beverly Lewellyn on May 22, 1948, in Plainfield, Ind.

Mr. Long worked for the Arizona Public Service Co. in Farmington, N.M., and Consolidated Coppermines in Kimberly before moving to Reno in 1963.

He worked for the State of Nevada for 20 years, retiring in 1983 as state welfare administrator.

Mr. Long was a member of Grace Community Church in Minden.

Among his survivors are his wife of 57 years; son and daughter-in-law Rob and Virginia of Vicksburg, Miss.; daughter Lana of Dayton; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

Walton's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
