Clifford C. Owen, 82, a 34-year Carson City resident, died Jan. 30, 2006, in Carson City. He was born June 17, 1923, in Creston, Iowa, to Martin and Grace Owen.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in the Philippines.

Mr. Owen served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner on merchant marine ships during World War II.

He enjoyed golfing.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jim Owen in 1976, and his wife, Mary, in 2000.

Among his survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Laura and Paul Merjil of Sacramento, Joyce and Glen Richmond of Carson City, and Chris and Frank Maddox of Olympia, Wash.; sister Virginia Long of Olympia, 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
