More than answers are blowing in the wind - just about everything else in Northern Nevada is, too.

The National Weather Service reported a wind advisory for Carson City, Minden and Reno as well as surrounding communities on Wednesday, forecasting strong winds over the eastern Sierra Nevada and western Nevada areas. The advisory was to remain in effect until this afternoon.

Winds were from the southwest at 25 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph, and gusts over ridges were clocked at 80 mph.

The weather service's Web site reported a winter storm was moving through on Wednesday night, bringing strong winds, rain and snow.

Despite the high winds, the Nevada Department of Transportation reported no road closures, though campers and trailers were prohibited along Highway 395 through Washoe Valley.

Today, expect mostly cloudy skies with a chance of rain. The snow level should hit 6,500 feet. Highs will be 53 to 63 degrees with west winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Expect the same for tonight, with lows dropping to the 30s or 40s.

Friday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs of 56-66 degrees and light winds from the south at 10 mph in the afternoon.
