Houses demolished for freeway

BRAD HORN/Nevada Appeal Jimmy Evans, a Grandex foreman, tears down a home in the 1800 block of Fairview Drive Wednesday. Three homes are being demolished to make way for the first phase of the southern half of the Carson City freeway between Fairview and Highway 50 East. The state expects to seek contracts to build the $50 million to $60 million leg of the bypass in October. The freeway is expected to be finished by 2010.
