David Leid went 3-for-4 for the Carson Cardinals, but it wasn't enough in a 6-4 loss to the Sierra Spartans on Thursday at Ron McNutt Field.

Carson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Brooks Greenlee doubled and Drew Good was hit by a pitch. Bryt Lewis followed with an RBI double and Leid hit an RBI sacrifice fly.

The Spartans came back to take a 4-2 lead when Carson cut the lead to 4-3 in the sixth. Ed Lovelace singled and eventually scored on Lewis' sacrifice fly.

Down 6-3 in the seventh, Leid singled and scored on Markus Adams' sacrifice fly to make it 6-4.

Paul Cagle and Adams each had a hit for Carson. Tony Fagan struck out six over seven innings and Stephen Sawyers pitched two scoreless innings for Carson, which will play the Spartans again at 6 p.m. Tuesday at McNutt Field.
