Jesus "Jesse" Francisco Blas, 82, died July 5, 2006, on his home island of Guam.
Mr. Blas was born Aug. 25, 1923, to Maria and Antonio Blas.
Before moving back to Guam, Mr. Blas lived in Carson City for 20 years.
Mr. Blas worked and retired from United Engine and Machine Co.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years.
He enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, cooking, and entertaining friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Ruth Jernigan.
Among his survivors are his sister Julia Sablan of Guam; daughters Donna Sgambelluri of Guam, Katie Durbin of Carson City, Carol Thompson of Lynnewood, Wash., and Lita Mercado of Winnemucca; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place July 14 at San Vincente/San Roke Catholic Church in Barrigada, Guam. He will be buried at Guam Veterans Cemetery in Piti, Guam.
