An open-casket funeral for Estella V. Nance, 82, a one-year Carson City resident, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Ms. Nance died July 4, 2006, in Carson City. She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Dawson, N.M., to Alfred G. Valdez and Celia Mares.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Stockton, Calif., for 38 years and Salem, Ore., for five years.

She was a high school graduate and attended business college.

She was a telephone operator for AT&T for 35 years.

She belonged to St. Luke's Church in Stockton, Calif., and the Christian Center of Salem. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Among her survivors are her daughters Rosemary Wassum of Carson City and Linda Melera of Oroville, Calif.; sons Wayne Nance of Oroville, and Fred Nance of Carson City; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
