A memorial service for Leslie Wood, 88, a Carson City resident for the past nine years, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church.

Mr. Wood died July 6, 2006, in Carson City. He was born March 7, 1918, in Wallsend, England to Thomas and Annie Wood.

He married Betty Wood on Dec. 9, 1939, in Detroit, Mich.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Seal Beach, Calif.

Mr. Wood enjoyed woodworking, fly-fishing and sailing.

He was a painting foreman for many years in California. He was a Protestant and attended Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church in Carson City.

He was preceded in death by son Don Wood in 2003 and granddaughter Melanie Wood in 2001.

Among his survivors are his wife; sons and daughters-in-law Gerry and Margaret Wood of Minden and Robin and Mary Wood of Bellflower, Calif.; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Inurnment will be in Bishop, Calif.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
