Regional Transportation Commission meets Wednesday


The Carson City Regional Transportation Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. Carson St.


Items on the agenda include: The possibly recommending the Board of Supervisors approve an agreement to accept an access easement for access to Brunswick Cemetery; discussion about parking near the intersection of John and North Stewart streets; and, possible recommendation of an agreement between the city and Snap On Tools Inc. related to the widening of Fairview Drive.




Historic Resources Commission meets Thursday


The Carson City Historic Resources Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. Carson St.


Topics include actions to consider future certified local government grants for Carson City and creation of a policy regarding commissioners representing their own projects as they come before the commission.




Carson City Democrats to meet


The Carson City Democrats will be meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the State of Nevada Employees Association Conference Room, 709 E. Robinson St. There will be a nonpartisan-offices forum. The Carson City Democrats meet the first Wednesday of every month. Call 841-3367 or visit www.nvdems.com.




Pine-needle basketmaking to be demonstrated


There will be a demonstration on pine needle basketmaking from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. This program goes hand-in-hand with the exhibit "Interwoven: Visions of the Great Basin Basketmakers" on display. Call 687-4810.




Relay for Life honors cancer survivors


The Relay for Life, a program of the American Cancer Society, will be from 5 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday.


The Relay for Life goes throughout the night, with at least one person circling the track at Carson High School every minute, symbolizing that cancer never sleeps.

Carson Tahoe announces changes in programs


Wellness fairs have been suspended at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center through this month. Patients who have standing appointments during this time will be notified.


A new wellness schedule will be available after Saturday.


Due to the organizational restructuring, some CTRH services have been retired. For information about wellness fairs and the Employee Assistance Program or alternative resources for adult, outpatient behavioral health services and Lifeline, call toll-free 1-866-284-9355.


Effective July 10, Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare has restructured the elective unmonitored exercise program (phase III maintenance) associated with the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.


Phase III will be restricted to moderate- and high-risk patients. The new hours for both cardiac and pulmonary phase III rehabilitation will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m.-noon.
