Mary T. Andreasen

A memorial service for Mary T. Andreasen, 94, a 58-year Virginia City resident, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Andreasen died July 11, 2006, in Carson City. She was born March 8, 1912, in Standish, Calif., to Roy and Muriel Tucker.

She married Earl Andreasen Sr. in November 1948 in Minden.

She was a graduate of Stanford University's School of Nursing and was instrumental in establishing the first ambulance in Virginia City. She also worked for the state of Nevada's Unemployment Compensation Division for many years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an honorary member of the Storey County Fire Department, and was a Stanford University alumni.

She was preceded in death by her husband in July 1989, a brother and a sister.

Among her survivors are her son, Earl Andreasen, of northern Virginia; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Memorial donations may be made to the Storey County Volunteer Fire Department.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
