Monthly community fair health screenings will continue Sept. 12, replacing the Wellness Fair Program discontinued when the hospital restructured.

"The health check will accommodate 135 participants," hospital spokeswoman Cheri Glockner said Friday. "It's equivalent to what we offered at a single Wellness Fair in the past."

The hospital wellness fairs were often held up to four times a month. Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare's community HealthCheck fairs will be on second Tuesdays.

"We're really happy that we could bring them back," Glockner said.

The nonprofit private health-care system announced in May that the wellness fair program would be scaled back as part of a restructuring of hospital management and departments. The adult outpatient Behavioral Health Services program closed on June 30. The Lifeline program for seniors was passed to a different organization. Most job cuts came in the management area.

The fairs will be in the Summit Room, which is in front of Carson Tahoe Specialty Medical Center, formerly Carson-Tahoe Hospital, at 775 Fleischmann Way. HealthCheck will run from 7:30-11:45 a.m.
