Carl W. Shannon, 85, a 79-year Carson City resident, died July 23, 2006, in Reno.

Mr. Shannon was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Jerome, Idaho, to Fay S. and Charlotte Shannon.

He worked for the State of Nevada for more than 30 years as an accountant.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of the Warren Engine Company No. 1, and the board of directors of NSEFCU.

He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, photography, and Nevada history, especially the V&T Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ivy M. Shannon, in 1983.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Timothy R. Shannon and Kathy Cripps of Lakewood, Colo.; son Michael W. Shannon of Sparks; daughter and son-in-law Christine W. and David Loar of Reno; and four grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be at Glenbrook.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
