Library to host puppet show


The Coyote Puppet Theatre will bring their 2006 musical, "A Coyote Finds the Stars" to the Carson City Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. For information call 887-2244.




Jazz and poetry at Comma Coffee


The Mile High Jazz Band and vocalist Sheryl Adams will be joined by local poets for another lively evening of "Jazz and Poetry" at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Comma Coffee. Admission is $5 general, $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association, and free for those age 18 and under. Swing dance instructions will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and costs $5.

Wilderness advocate speaks to Sierra Club


The Carson City branch of the Great Basin Sierra Club chapter meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson City Library for a talk and slide show about Nevada's outdoor recreation areas.


Charlie Watson of the Nevada Outdoor Recreation Association will discuss areas of critical environmental concern, and how to document and protect them.


Local hikes and issues will also be discussed. Refreshments will be provided.

Retired public employees to meet

National Guard to celebrate Flag Day


The public is invited to join the military in celebrating and paying respect to the United States' flag in the annual Nevada National Guard Flag Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Wall located within the State Capitol complex in Carson City. The ceremony will also recognize the 231st birthday of the U.S. Army.

BAC holds Improv Kids workshops


BAC Stage Kids and the Brewery Arts Center will be holding "Improv Kids," a series of workshops and shows for beginners age 10 and up and those who are more advanced from 12 to 18. Workshop dates are July 17-21. Beginners' classes will be held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. daily and advanced classes are 2-5 p.m. daily. Workshop cost is $30 per participant. Show dates are at 7 p.m. July 21 and 22. All seats are $5. Space for the workshops is limited. For information or to sign up, call 887-0438.
