Fathers Day archery shoot this weekend

The fifth annual Carson Valley Archery's fifth annual Fathers Day 3-D Shoot will be held on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18.

It will be an unmarked yardage 3-D shoot and range finders are welcome. The shoot willb e held at Spooner Summit. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the shoot begins at 8.

Last rounds will be at 4 p.m. and target pickup will be at 5 p.m. Sunday. There will be at least 20 decoy animal targets and participants can shoot as many rounds as they want. There will also be a novelty target.

There will be a drawing and tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, 10 for $8 and 15 for $10. The registration fees are:

Adult members $10, nonmembers $15; ages 16-7: members $5, nonmembers $10; 11-15: members $3, nonmembers $5; 0-10: members free, nonmembers $1.

Restrooms will be provided and water will be available at the sign in area. Those who bring their mom or dad will receive $1 off the shoot or a shot at the novelty target and the same deal will be offered to the moms and dads.

Results from BabeRuth Hit A Thon

Carson City Babe Ruth recently held a Hit A Thon Fundraiser, raising $1,200 towards the new batting cages.

The top prize, an Apple iPod Nano donated by Pinnacle Financial Corporation of Reno, was awarded by Cynthia Fleiner of Pinnacle Financial Corportation to Steven Carrera of the Dodgers 14/15 Team.

The total cost of the batting cages is $11,000. Carson City Babe Ruth League is still looking for donations, and will also be selling Weinerschnitzel Coupon Books for $10 each.

Results of the Hit A Thon were:

Overall: First - Carrera; second - Derek Giurlani, Pirates, 16-18; third - Austin Law, Rangers Prep.

Longest drive: Overall - Mason Bondi, Mariners 14/15, 310 feet. 16-18: First - Bryan Byrne, Pirates, 260; second - Ted Mills, Pirates, 245. 15-year-olds: First - Dustin Buttner, Mariners, 290; second - Justen Marsola, Cubs, 260.

14-year-olds: First - Brett Allen, Cubs, 280; second - Justin Allbritten, Dodgers, 250. 13-year-olds: First - Mark McCraw, Angels, 250; second - Matt Cooper, Rangers, 249.

Carson Babe Ruth will also host the 13-15-year-old State Tournament July 22-27 at Governor's Field.
