The Northern Nevada Development Authority will hold its annual Golf-A-Thon Tee-Off for Education June 30 at the Empire Ranch Golf Course.

Half of the net proceeds will go to establish a Western Nevada Community College scholarship fund for the Employee Training Center. The resource will be available for the communities' employees to improve their skills and value in the work force.

Washoe Med receives accreditation

Washoe Medical Center has announced that it is one of 12 facilities in Nevada to be awarded a three-year term of accreditation for inpatient ultrasound.

The American College of Radiology awards accreditation to facilities for achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation. Surveyors report their findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation.

Local estate organizer achieves Independent Advisor status

Susan McCarthy, president of Creative Estate Organizers in Carson City, has achieved Independent Advisor status after completing the Basic Institute course of The Estate Plan.

McCarthy offers a variety of free speaker presentations tailored to estate organizing, planning and settlement.

Business Bank of Nevada hires new vice president

The Business Bank of Nevada has hired longtime and well-known Nevada banking professional Paul Workman as one of its top five executives.

Workman, who has worked in the banking industry for more than 31 years, was hired to be executive vice president and director of sales. He has worked with BankWest, Nevada State Bank and Valley Bank of Nevada, as well as the Bank of Utah and the Bank of Brigham City in Utah.

Cricket increases retail outlets fourfold

Bank of America donates $35,000 to rural housing

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation Inc. donated $35,000 to Nevada Rural Housing Inc., a nonprofit development organization working with the Nevada Rural Housing Authority.

The Bank of America Nevada Foundation focuses resources on helping children and families succeed.

Citizens for Affordable Homes hires receptionist

Citizens for Affordable Homes has hired Claudia Ornelas as its new receptionist at the Dayton office.

She is fluent in Spanish and has years of customer service and relations experience, as well as a working knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Comstock History Center honored

The Comstock History Center in Virginia City has received the "Project of the Year" award from the Nevada Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

The building was constructed by Nevada State Public Works and Miles Brothers Construction, and opened in December. It is generally open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Contractors Board takes action

The Nevada State Contractors Board took disciplinary action against five contractors in Northern Nevada for violations of Nevada Revised Statue 624.

The businesses are Eureka Builders, Inc., license No. 19657, based out of Carson City; Hamlin Development Co. Inc., No. 47827A, based out of Reno; Vincent S.
