4-H Council to host college and apprenticeship information night


Local youth,12 through 19, can gather information about educational opportunities after high school at the College and Apprenticeship Information Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the University of Nevada's Cooperative Extension, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 12. This event is sponsored by the Carson City/Storey County 4-H Council and is free of charge.

Pow-Wow celebrates Father's Day


The Stewart School Historical District, located at 5366 Snyder Ave., will be holding a Father's Day Pow-Wow Friday-Sunday. There will be a youth boxing exhibition as well as traditional American Indian dancing, arts, crafts and food. Hours are 7-11 p.m. Friday, 1-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Fraternity demos bicycles to children


There will be a puppet show and bicycle presentation from the fraternity of Pi Kappa Phi at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. For information, call 884-2226.




Trailer Park Troubadours to play


"Trailer Park Troubadours" will be showing at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. Tickets are $20 general and $18 for BAC members, seniors and students.

'Rendered Gaze' to show in Carson


An exhibition of diazo prints by Catherine Borg entitled "Rendered Gaze" will show at the OSX Gallery of the Nevada Arts Council, 716 N. Carson St., from Friday through Aug. 11. This exhibit explores the difference between observing and passive gazing.

'Kids Camp' during Taste of Downtown


The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be holding another Kids Camp corresponding with the Taste of Downtown from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $10 pre-registered and $15 at the door, per child. To register or for information ,call 884-2226.


Silver Springs


Audubon sponsors birding canoe trip


The Lahontan Audubon Society is sponsoring a birding trip by canoe along the Carson River Delta at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fort Churchill State Park picnic area.


Car shuttles will run to the takeout point at the end of Ninth St. in Silver Springs.


Participants need to bring a canoe or kayak, lunch, water, sunscreen and binoculars.


There is a $4 state park use fee per vehicle. The trip is limited to 12 boats. Reservations are required. For information, call 882-2597.
