The Sierra Nevada Unit of WBCCI will hold a dispersed camping rally at Obsidian Dome from Friday to Sunday. Obsidian Dome is between June Lake and Mammoth Lakes off of Highway 395 in Eastern California. Participants should bring a potluck dish to share. The arrival time is any time after noon today. 4-H holds area youth fair this weekend


The Carson City and Storey County 4-H clubs' Youth Fair is from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Road.


Youth and adults are invited to attend regardless of membership in 4-H. Call 887-2252.




'Friday Classical Lunches' continues this week


The Brewery Arts Center's summer music series, "Friday Classical Lunches" presents "Ravens and Roses," an animated Renaissance singing act from Reno. from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the BAC patio, 449 W. King St.


Light lunches, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase, and visitors are invited to bring their own.

Bat conservation discussed this weekend


Jenni Jeffers, a wildlife biologist with the Nevada Department of Wildlife, will discuss bat conservation in Nevada from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Dayton State Park Group Area. Call 687-4319.

Meet the 'Ladies of the Mansion' on the porch


Betty Hood, curator, and Ann Buzzard, assistant curator, will tell Comstock-era tales of the Bowers Mansion and Washoe Valley at 7:30 p.m. Friday as part of the "Programs from the Porch" series. Call 849-1825.




Birding in Washoe Valley


The Lahontan Audubon Society is sponsoring a birding trip to Davis Creek Park at the north end of Washoe Valley. Participants should meet at the group picnic area at the far end of the parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, and bring a snack and water. This half-day trip will involve a group walk along park trails. 'Bluegrass and Smokey' performed Friday


The Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association will be playing at a family campfire program featuring a special appearance by Smokey Bear at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Galena Creek Regional Park. Call 849-2511.
