The Sierra Nevada Unit of the International Airstream Club will rally in Lassen National Park's Hot Creek camping area No. 2, northwest of Susanville. This trip takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Participants should bring a potluck dish to share. There is lodging available in the park for those who do not own recreational vehicles. Shade Tree Council seeks new member


The Carson City Shade Tree Council seeks a new member. The group provides advice on matters concerning the development, maintenance, management and promotion of a safe, healthy and attractive urban forest.


The vacancy expires January 2008 and a commitment of up to 10 hours a month is expected.


Applicants must be residents and registered voters. Choice of any new member is made by the Board of Supervisors.

Potter's House to hold healing crusade


The Potter's House Christian Fellowship Church's annual "Valley-wide Healing Crusade" is at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. Prayer for the sick will be offered each evening. Attendance is free. Call 721-5584 or 841-6403.




Children's Museum holds annual 'Kids Karnival' fundraiser


The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be holding it's Kids Street Karnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 813 N. Carson St. This is one of the museum's biggest fundraisers of the year. Features include the Nevada National Guard, the McGruff Crime Fighting Dog, Smokey Bear, Bobby the Boat, Red's Old 395 Bar and Grill, the Nevada State Museum and its "Beastly Encounters," Pluggie the Robot, and Model Dairy Ice Cream.


Admission to the Karnival is free. Activities are only 50 cents each. and food is $1.

Reno


District Health Department extends immunization hours


The District Health Department will be extending business hours for immunizations for children to 7 p.m. until Sept. 6. Parents are encouraged to bring nonobstrusive activities, such as small toys or books, for waiting children. The clinic is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The District Health Department is at 1001 E. Ninth St. in Reno. Call 328-3724.




Wild horse expo comes to Reno


The 16th annual Western States Wild Horse and Burro Expo will be from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Reno Livestock Events Center. There will be numerous free clinics as well as demonstrations and auctions of saddle-trained wild horses. For information about volunteering or donating, call 849-3625.
