Museums offer free admission Thursday


Several state museums will offer free admission for International Museums Day on Thursday. The Nevada State Museum, the Nevada State Railroad Museum, plus the Nevada Historical Society in Reno will offer free admission and encourage families to visit. Call 687-8323.

ComputerCorps holds computer camp for kids


Children ages 10-15 can have fun and learn about computer recycling, testing, assembly and operations at ComputerCorps "Summer TechCamp 2k6." Participants will build and take home a Pentium III class computer or build a system for someone in need. Each camp lasts two weeks, and there are five separate tech camps. Days and hours are Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Space in each camp is limited to 16 students. Registration is $450, which includes the computer system, a camp shirt and a graduation ceremony. Some scholarships are available, and camp counselors and team leaders are needed. State Museum holds reception for basket exhibit

Nursing alumni reunion, party for WNCC's Shaw


Sable Shaw, Western Nevada Community College Nursing Program founding member, professor, and former director will be retiring this spring after 24 years of service with the college. A nursing alumni reunion and celebration will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday in the Bristlecone Building main art gallery. Friends, colleagues and current or past nursing students are invited to attend. Graduates ready for commencement ceremonies


More than 1,344 bachelor's degree students will begin their processional at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the University of Nevada, Reno's Quad. The advanced degree ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday. In the event of inclement weather, events will be moved to the Lawlor Events Center. For information visit www.unr.edu.

Chaperones needed for state 4-H summer camp


Adult chaperones are needed to spend the week of July 9-15 with local youth at the state 4-H camp near Stateline.


Chaperones are needed to provide supervision and lead activities. There are no fees for volunteering and room and board is provided while at camp.


Volunteers will need to attend a training session June 4.


University credit or continuing education credit can be earned by volunteering if volunteers are signed up for the applicable courses and pay the per credit fees.


The camp fee is $185 per camper (ages 9-12) and registration is due by June 20. Call 784-4848.
