Family sing-along at Galena Creek


Local musician Larry Elliot will lead a family sing-along for all ages during a free campfire program at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Galena Creek Regional Park. Call 849-2511.




Hawaiian musicians to play free concert


Local Hawaiian musicians Danny Baclayon and Gil Thompson will bring the sounds of the islands to Washoe Valley for Bowers Mansion's second annual Hawaiian Night at 7 p.m. Friday. This free concert is part of the Programs from the Porch series. Call 849-1825.

"Nuclear West" exhibit showing


The Nevada State Library and Archives will be hosting Nuclear West, an exhibit of landscape photographs from Western states where there has been an ongoing history of atomic weapons, nuclear energy and military land use.


The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Call 684-3313.


Third annual Capital City Kid's Triathlon


The Carson City Recreation Division will be hosting the third annual Capital City Kid's Triathlon from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Mills Park and the Aquatic Facility.


The race consists of swimming, biking and running. Registration will be taken at the Aquatic Facility or Fleet Feet through the day of the race.


Each participant will receive a Triathlon T-shirt and every finisher receives a medal.


Cost is $10 for pre-registration or $15 on the day of the race. Call 887-2242.


Diabetes education classes offered


There will be a diabetes education class from 8 a.m. to noon today and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in Carson City at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. There will be another class Aug. 17 and 18 in Minden. You must have a physician's referral to attend these classes. Call 885-4430.

St. Gall to hold rummage sale


St. Gall Catholic Church will be holding its annual rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There are two vehicles, a camping trailer, furniture, appliances, and several other items for sale. The Knights of Columbus will be selling refreshments.
