Carson man arrested in shooting death

A Carson City man was in custody Thursday morning after eluding police for

8 hours following a killing on Carson River Road.

Donald Lee Davis, 21, was apprehended behind Meeks Lumber on North Carson

Street around 9 a.m.

He is suspected in the 1 a.m. shooting death of Zack Warren, 18.

According to Carson City Sheriff's Detective Motamenpour, Warren, Davis and two others were in a home at 4900 Carson River Road when Davis allegedly pulled out a weapon.

"He was displaying it for a few minutes before the shooting," Motamenpour

said.

Warren was struck once in the temple. Motamenpour said it was unclear if

the shooting was intentional or accidental. He said it didn't appear there

was a dispute among the men prior to the shooting.

Witnesses said Davis fled on foot from the rear of the home.

At 6:30 a.m. the suspected weapon, a .45 cal. handgun was located on the

property.

Search and Rescue crews searched the immediate acreage of the 550-acre

ranch in East Carson City searching for the suspect, but came up empty.

About 8 a.m. a friend of the suspect told police he had allegedly tried to

convince Davis to surrender, but he'd refused.

After chasing numerous, fruitless leads for about an hour, Davis was

discovered behind the North Carson Street lumber yard.

He was arrested without incident.
