Four hurt after driver of Suburban slams into home

Four people were transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Saturday after a Chevrolet Suburban lost control and rammed into a house.

The black Suburban was southbound on Saliman Road when it's driver apparently lost control, traveled across oncoming traffic and jumped the curb. The vehicle traveled about 50 feet, went through a fence - narrowly missed a tree - and crashed into the master bedroom of a duplex at the northeast corner of Saliman Road and Depot Street.

"It sounded like an explosion to me, like a bomb going off," said neighbor Charlotte Kern.

The entire length of the Suburban was engulfed in the home, causing it to look as though it were parked in a very small garage.

Neighbors said the crash sounded like an explosion and shook the ground surrounding the home.

"I was in the bathroom with no windows and I felt it rumble," said neighbor Steve Mayer.

The driver of the car, Jason Krueger, 33, and his 6-year-old son were taken along with an adult female and a 5-year-old child who were in the house at the time. Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Richard Chrzanowski said none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Dan Gonzales also taken to the hospital by a supervisor after inhaling battery fumes while attempting to help residents out of the house. He was treated and released.

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, witnesses said they saw the vehicle begin to lose control before cutting across traffic. Kern said that the driver said he had a medical condition that caused him to lose consciousness.
