Dayton High senior Kevin Goles finished as a first alternate to advance to the United States Public Links Championship in the sectional qualifier on Wednesday at ArrrowCreek Country Club.
Ben Fox won the two-day event finishing with a two-round total of 7-under-par 137 after shooting a final round 66 on Wednesday. He was the only player to advance to the U.S. Public Links Championship to be held July 10-15 in Bremeteron, Wash.
Goles shot rounds of 74 and 69 for a 143 total to take second and the first alternate spot.
Carson Summer Slam camp slated
The Carson High annual Summer Slam Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 17-18 at Carson High. Check-in on July 17 is at 8:15 a.m.
The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 4-9. Cost is $85 if registered by July 11. Late registration is $100. For more information, call Bruce Barnes, 885-0978.
