Steve Baxter of Carson City fished at Silver Lake, Calif., last Saturday. While trolling with flasher blades and worms for rainbow trout, he caught an 8-pound Mackinaw trout. He has to be the only person to ever catch a Mack on a worm!
Dennis Hudson of Carson City organized and ran the first-ever Meek's Lumber and Hardware fishing derby held at Lake Tahoe on June 24. Then, he and his partner finished in second place. Hmmm.
If Chuck Van Hise of Carson City invites you to a barbecue in his backyard, be sure to take a tank of propane gas with you. Last Tuesday, he ran out of gas, while barbecuing dinner for his guests. He switched to his spare tank, and, yep, it was empty, too!
Have a Happy Fourth! Have fun on the big summer holiday, but remember to be considerate of fellow campers, fishermen, boaters, drivers, etc. Most importantly, don't drive a boat or vehicle and drink. Save the drinking for when you get to your destination.
