The Carson City Sheriffs Department's, deputies and search and rescue members canvassed the neighborhood to warn residents to be prepared to evacuate Tuesday night.
The Carson City Sheriffs Department, along with reserve deputies and search and rescue members are canvassing the neighborhood along upper Goni Road as of 10 tonight, warning residents to be prepared to evacuate.
"We're telling people to be prepared of immediate evacuation upon second knock," said Lt. Ken Sandage of the Carson City Sheriff's Department. "Just to prepare a bag and get your pets."
A portion of Goni Road is closed, with only residents being allowed beyond Kelvin Street.
The Linehan Complex fire is approximately 200 yards from the 35 to 100 homes.
Sagebrush, bitterbrush, and cheatgrass are burning, with flame lengths of three to four feet, according to Sierra Interagency Dispatch Center.
A Type I Incident Management Team has taken over all fires in the Sierra Front and the 15 combined fires are now part of the Sierra Tahoe Complex.
These fires span from Boomtown to Pyramid Lake to Silver Springs to Carson City and back up the Sierra Front. The combined complex acreage is approximately 8,000 acres and personnel is approximately 800.
At around 8:45 p.m., the west flank of the Linehan fire became active. Winds are pushing the fire along in a westerly direction.
Varying amounts of rain fell on the fires beginning around 7:30 p.m.
All aircraft were grounded as of 6:30 p.m. due to high winds.
Also at 10 p.m., a fire chief and three engines were on scene and confirmed that the Virginia fire was moving toward Stagecoach.
