Goni residents allowed to return to homes

Progress made against the Linehan Fire on the northeast side of Carson City has allowed those who evacuated to return to their homes.

Last night, winds pushed flames down slope and toward the Goni Road area, forcing officials to issue a voluntary evacuation notice for residents in that neighborhood.

No structures were damaged in that area.

Sierra Front Agency Dispatch Center estimates the residents who evacuated from homes on Linehan Road will be able to return by noon today.

Weather forcasts call for rain today, possibly heavy at time.
