A rosary for JoAnn Allison, 68, a longtime Reno resident, will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop Manogue Chapel.

A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Albert's the Great Catholic Church at the corner of King's Row and Wyoming Street in Reno.

Mrs. Allison died March 12, 2006, in her home from complications related to cancer.

She was born July 14, 1937, in Phoenix, to Margaret and Roy Todd.

She graduated from Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in 1955.

She worked for two years at the Riverside Hotel before enrolling at the University of Nevada, Reno, from which she graduated in 1960 with a degree in elementary education. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

After graduating she taught second grade at Roger Corbett Elementary School in Reno for one year before moving to Martha F. Gleason Elementary in Carson City. She later taught at Glenn Duncan Elementary School.

She married Edward Allison in Reno on July 27, 1963.

She was a Catholic and took trips to holy sites around the world, including Yugoslavia, Israel, Rome, England and Scotland. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Incline Village.

Among her survivors are her husband; daughter and son-in-law Shelly and Ron Pool of Reno; son and his fiancée Branan and Chandra Pruitt of Las Vegas; brother-in-law George and his wife Barbara of Carson City; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Sisters, 1950 La Fond Drive, Reno, NV 89509, or to the Bishop Manogue Scholarship Endowment Fund, 110 Bishop Manogue Dr., Reno, NV 89511.
