Carson baseball rolls past Hug

Josh Caron pitched a two-hit shutout and Jack Jacquet had two triples and three RBI as the Carson High baseball team rolled to an 11-0 win over Hug on Thursday at Ron McNutt Field.

Caron struck out six and walked one over five innings in the game that was called after 4 1/2 innings due to the mercy rule. Carson (5-1, 3-1 in the Sierra League) scored four runs in the first and second innings and three in the fourth.

Logan Parsley had an RBI double, Jacquet had a two-run triple and Tony Fagan hit an RBI single in the first to make it 4-0. In the second, Royal Good and Kevin Schlange hit back-to-back doubles for a run and Jacquet hit an RBI triple as Carson took an 8-0 lead.

In the fourth, Bryt Lewis was hit by a pitch and Johnny Hazeltine walked. After the two pulled off a double steal, Brooks Greenlee belted a two-run double. Greenlee eventually scored on Jack Maloney's sacrifice fly to make it 11-0.

"I was very pleased with the way he threw," said Carson coach Steve Cook about Caron. "He had a good fastball. He was thring it for strikes on the inside and outside part of the plate."

The Senators also made no errors. "We played good defense behind him," Cook said.

Carson will travel to Hug for a doubleheader, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. "We can't have any letups for Saturday," Cook said.
