Due to an overwhelming demand of the recently released Nevada state quarter and subsequent sell-out, a second edition of the official Nevada quarter set will be available beginning Monday.
The sets will be sold at the Nevada State and Nevada State Railroad museums in Carson City; the Nevada Historical Society in Reno; the Lost City Museum in Overton; and the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Las Vegas.
The set features mint-quality quarters from the United States Mints at Denver and Philadelphia. Each set includes the two quarters encapsulated in a printed card with a full-color image of the Nevada Capitol.
The set also includes a certificate of authenticity signed by Nevada State Treasurer Brian Krolicki and a folding display stand.
Only 5,000 second-edition sets will be sold. Sets sell for $10 each with all proceeds from this sale going to benefit the museums in the Division of Museums and History and the Historic Carson City Mint.
The Nevada quarter was first released to the public Jan. 31. It is the 36th in a series of state quarters being issued by the U.S. Mint.
It is titled "Morning in Nevada," and features three wild horses running in front of mountains flanked by sagebrush with "The Silver State" draped across the bottom of the coin.
The design was put to public vote, with more than 60,000 votes cast for the winning design, out of five choices.
All 3,000 first edition commemorative sets made as a fundraiser for the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs, Division of Museums and History, were sold.
