Applications for three grant programs from the Nevada Arts Council are now available.

The postmark application deadline for the Better Learning through the Arts grant is May 16, and May 19 for the Artist in Residents Grant and the Arts Learning for All grants.

Convention and Visitors Bureau to hold regular meeting tonight

The regular board meeting of the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau will be at 5:30 p.m. tonight at the Sierra Room in the Carson City Community Center.

There will be board discussions on the V&T Capital Project Fund, the tentative budget for the V&T Capital Project and several other funds, an update on the V&T Reconstruction project, and a discussion on "Birding Nevada."

Douglas library holds bedtime stories tonight

The Douglas County Public Library will be reading bedtime stories at the Minden branch at 6:45 p.m. tonight for Mother's Day stories.

Storytime takes place once a month for families with children of all ages, who may come dressed in pajamas and bring a blanket or stuffed animal.

Clear Creek Watershed Council meets Tuesday

The Clear Creek Watershed Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Jacks Valley Elementary School library. The topic is "Protecting the Clear Creek Watershed," and guest speakers will discuss optimal planting practices and best management practices to protect the creek, along with seeding and planting practices to manage erosion and conserve the riparian area.
