The Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, a volunteer group that works to improve customer service and satisfaction at the Internal Revenue Service, has released its 2005 Annual Report.

Several recommendations were sent on to the IRS, including changes to Form W-4 so that families with multiple incomes will not find an unexpectedly large income tax bill at the end of the year; enlargement of the print of Publication 554, Older American's Tax Guide, and clarify text as well; provide a late filing/late payment penalty calculator on the IRS Web site; and clarify the offer-in-compromise application form, the IRS for accepting and rejecting offers-in-compromise.

In the past several changes have been made and implemented in IRS policy due to TAP's recommendations.
