Gunny Benson of Douglas County and Norm Budden of Carson City apparently flunked math, while in school. Last week, they were trying to catch Mackinaw trout at a depth of 450 feet in Lake Tahoe with downriggers that only contained 300 feet of wire. Yep, they got skunked.

The Carson City Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife is seeking applicants for three positions on that board. Those three positions are currently occupied by Wes Clyde, Steven Walker and Gilbert Yanuck. For applications and details, call 887-2100.

Jack and Cheryl Cooke of Carson City just returned from Alaska. They had transported a camping trailer up there. Next month, Jack will take his brand new boat to that location, and then spend the rest of the summer, fishing and camping to his heart's content.

Don Hettrick and his son Tracee, both of Carson City and Rich Bachle of Fernley fished from a boat at Lahontan Reservoir last week. Don said they "kicked butt." The three of them actually caught a total of three fish.

Lisa Ollerdessen of Carson City enjoys reading about local folks on the weekly Outdoors page, so today she can read about herself. Thanks to Ed and Shirley Peterson of Carson City for the inside tip.
