A graveside service for Pete Starman, 69, a Washoe Valley resident since 2003, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Starman died May 9, 2006, in Washoe Valley. He was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Royal Oak, Mich., to Peter and Eva Starman.

He married Charlie Starman on April 16, 2001, in Hawaii.

Before moving to Washoe Valley, he lived in Norwalk, Calif.

He attended the University of California at Berkeley and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

He owned his own business, Demco Broach and Tool, in Commerce, Calif., and retired in 1996.

He enjoyed crossword puzzles, collecting birdhouses, hunting, camping, traveling and classic cars. He was proud of his Swedish heritage.

He was preceded in death by sister Barbra Starman in 1998.

Among his survivors are his wife of Washoe Valley; son Peter Edward Starman of Pasadena, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Kimberly and Marty Diklich, of Seattle, Kristina and Lee Barker of Chicago, and Kerri and Ray Leonard of Lucerne Valley, Calif.; daughters Joeve and Erika Starman both of Apple Valley, Calif.; stepdaughter Janetta and husband Alden Cotton of Phoenix; and nine grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
