A memorial service for Rockwell "Rocky" Gilbert, 56, a fifth-generation Nevadan, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Calvary Chapel of Carson Valley, 1004 Dresslerville Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
Mr. Gilbert died May 11, 2006, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born Sept. 11, 1949, in Reno to Harold and Peggy Gilbert. He grew up in Gardnerville and graduated as valedictorian of Douglas County High School in 1967.
He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Cambridge, Mass., and received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical and electrical engineering.
He traveled throughout the United States and the world, working in nuclear and solar power generation industries.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Tyler.
Among his survivors are his wife, Donna Gilbert and son Donovan, both of Mesa; daughter Robin; brothers Mike and Paul; three grandchildren, two aunts, and numerous extended relatives.
