One of the favorite nights for Carson High School seniors is the community-sponsored "Safe Grad Night."

I received an e-mail from Connie Fronapfel saying the sober-graduation party still needs funds, along with more volunteers.

This program is a fun way to say to graduating seniors, "Great job for your amazing efforts."

Every senior can attend, thanks to the donations from the community. I talked to Carson Soroptimist International Whole Child Committee, and it will be sending a check ASAP. Not only is it a great cause for some very deserving students, but it provides them a safe environment to celebrate their memories of Carson High.

June 10 is also the annual Carson City Library's annual Slot World/Kiwanis Breakfast for Books.

This big fundraiser provides much-needed funding for the library and all the wonderful programs it provides.

Plus, it's a fabulous breakfast for a very reasonable price. Here is the big bonus: Inquire about having your fines waived at the information desk, or, better yet, pay them and help support our library.

This next event is the highlight of the summer, when the community comes together to lend a helping hand to women and children.

The Advocates to End Domestic Violence's annual fundraiser, "The Taste of Downtown," is June 17.

You stroll downtown, enjoying the starry summer night and restaurant samples, while listening to bands on Third Street.

All the proceeds go directly back to the shelter, and a big thanks to each restaurant that participates.

Give Terri a call to get tickets.; they always sell out. It's a great way to celebrate an early Father's Day.

'Taste of Downtown'

Anta Ballardinia, because your name is so unique, the people who proofread my column thought I had to have misspelled your name. So to my really good friend, ANTA and her beautiful daughter, Savina, "Spiacente."
