It was a tough day for the Carson Cardinals on Saturday at the Reno Knights Memorial Day Weekend Tournament as they lost to Sacramento's International Baseball Academy 13-4 and the Reno Knights 9-2.

Carson scored all four runs in its opener in the sixth inning. Nick Smallman singled, Brooks Greenlee followed with an RBI triple, then David Leid, Bryt Lewis and Johnny Hazeltine all hit RBI singles.

Tony Fagan allowed six earned runs while striking out six over 5.2 innings. Kyle Stone didn't allow an earned run in two-thirds of an inning. Greenlee had three hits, two triples and a double, Lewis added a double for two its and Paul Cagle added a hit.

Against the Knights, Kyle Mandoki pitched a complete game, allowing nine runs, but only four earned. Carson scored in the third when Rob Valerius and Hazeltine singled. Both moved up on Matt Rutledge's sacrifice bunt and Valerius scored on Markus Adams' RBI groundball.

Carson scored its other run in the sixth after Greenlee walked and Fagan was hit by a pitch. Greenlee eventually came around on two groundballs. Leid doubled and Rutledge, Greenlee and Adams all had a hit.

The Cardinals will play the Winnemucca Badgers at 12:30 p.m. today at Reno High. Carson will likely need to win the game to advance to Monday's third place game. It's likely that the Knights and IBAC will play in Monday's championship game.
