(Staff reports) A 139-acre brush fire in Dayton was fully contained by Tuesday morning, an official said.

Lyon County Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Page said the Sugarloaf fire was fully contained by 8 p.m. Tuesday. It began about 4:30 p.m. near the Sutro Tunnel just northwest of Dayton Village Parkway.

He said the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating reports of children seen running from the area shortly after fireworks were seen and heard.

Homes within a quarter-mile of the blaze were not immediately threatened, Page said.
