Supervisors to fill two Parks and Rec vacancies


The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission. There are two openings.


Terms expire for these vacancies in January 2008. A minimum of up to 10 hours a month commitment is expected. Closing date for applications is June 13.

West Coast police to compete for 'Fastest Cop' title today


The third annual police and sheriff motor officer competition will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Mills Park. There will be 50 police officers from all over the west coast competing to be the fastest police officer. There will be food, music, and vendors, and admission is free. All proceeds go to benefit the Boys and Girls club. For information call 721-6610.




Big Bucks and Barbecue at Nugget


Old Town Carson City Merchants is hosting the Big Bucks and Barbecue Tournament from noon to 9 p.m. today in the Nugget parking lot. There will be music and merchant booths.




'Through the Garden Gate' planned Sunday


The Roberts House Museum will be holding its annual Victorian Garden/Home Tour "Through the Garden Gate" 1-6 p.m. Sunday. For information call 882-1805.




Children's museum holds 'Kids Camp'


There will be another "Kids Camp" at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today. There will be several activities. Children must be potty trained and parents must provide a working cell phone.

Genoa home, garden tour coming Sunday


This year's Genoa Home and Garden Tour will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $10 for this self-guided tour, which includes a map.


Tickets can be purchased at the Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City, the Carson Valley Chamber in the Museum in Gardnerville, and Antiques Plus in Genoa. This years proceeds benefit the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra.

Dayton


Book sale at Dayton Valley Library


Friends of the Dayton Valley Library will be holding a book sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today at the Dayton Branch Library, 321 Old Dayton Valley Road.
