A memorial service for Walter E. Baldwin, 88, a 31-year Dayton resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church on Flowery Avenue in Dayton.

Mr. Baldwin died Nov. 2, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Edward and Essie Cox Baldwin.

He married Leanore Thompson on Oct. 9, 1937, in Willows, Calif.

Before moving to Dayton, Mr. Baldwin lived in Novato, Calif.

He was a high school graduate and a carpenter and contractor.

He had served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his only son, and 10 siblings.

Among his survivors are his daughters, Sharon Affonso and Virginia Stewart; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Capital City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
