J. Robert Davenport, 74, a 35-year Carson City resident, died Nov. 6, 2006, in Carson City.

Mr. Davenport was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Robert Franklin Davenport Jr. and Dora Ellen Highley Davenport.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Davenport lived in Reno and Klamath Falls.

Mr. Davenport was a salesman for various department stores including Sears and Montgomery Ward.

He served in the Oregon National Guard from 1951-65, reaching the rank of captain.

He belonged to the Elks Lodge in Reno and Carson City.

Among his survivors are his brother William F. "Bill" Davenport; aunt Ruthlee Mauldin of San Jose, Calif.; 10 nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carson City Elks Lodge or to a local hospice.

Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Klamath Falls is in charge of arrangements. Local arrangements are by Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
