A funeral mass for Angelo Mazza, 80, will be at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, 2525 N. Arrowhead Dr., San Bernardino, Calif.

Mr. Mazza died Nov. 2, 2006, at Loma Linda Veterans Hospital. He was born in 1926 to Italian immigrants.

He attended schools in Arizona and Rockford, Ill.

He was the owner of Angelo's Shoe Service, in San Bernardino for 58 years, and a Gardnerville store.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II.

He received the Purple Heart.

He was a past Commander for the American Legion No. 777, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Among his survivors are his wife, Mary Mazza; daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Dr. Michael Kruetz of San Clemente, Calif.; son Angelo Mazza Jr. of Lake Tahoe; sons and daughters-in-law Patrick and Julie Mazza of Corona, Calif., and Michael and Kristie of Reno; brother and sister-in-law Col. Jay and Dottie Vargas of La Jolla, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A public viewing was held Wednesday at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino and was followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Burial was at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. with full military honors.

Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino is in charge of arrangements.
