A funeral Mass for Jack Harry Troy, 82, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church.
Mr. Troy died Oct. 28, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1924, in Los Angeles, to Harry and Catherine Troy.
He married Mary Sullivan in 1955, in Spokane, Wash.
He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1942. He later received his associate's degree from San Bernardino Valley College and his bachelor's from Cal State Los Angeles in education.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in the round house for eight years after graduating high school, before taking a job with wholesaler Inland Distributing for 10 years.
He then taught elementary school with the San Bernardino Unified School District for 23 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and a teacher of religious education.
He attended both the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carson City and St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
He enjoyed reading, politics, bowling, woodworking and being a grandfather.
He was preceded in death by brother Tom Troy in 1988.
Among his survivors are his wife of 51 years, of Minden; daughter and son-in-law Nancy Kathleen and Ron Cauley of Gardnerville; daughter Sheryl Fox of Reno; brother Donald Troy of San Bernardino; sister Sheila Holtshneider of Boston; and two grandchildren.
Burial will take place at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
