In order to make holiday giving more spiritual and less commercial, Hope Lutheran Church of the Sierra, along with Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church, will present a Living Gift Market through Heifer International from 9 to 10 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 19.

The community is invited to attend and to browse through "Latin America," "Asia" and "Africa" and to "purchase" animals, shares of animals and tools for families in those areas in the name of loved ones.

The recipient will receive a beautiful card informing them of the gift and struggling families will receive the animals and the training to raise them in an environmentally sustainable way. These families will pass on the first offspring to other families and the gift continues.

Heifer International is an organization that has worked since 1944 exclusively in the area of agriculture and livestock to develop programs that alleviate hunger and poverty and encourage self reliance in struggling families around the world.

All are invited to drop by and join us in this festive and fun filled event at Hope Lutheran Church, 630 Julie Lane.
