William Carl Nowack, 74, a 12-year Yerington resident, died Oct. 31, 2006, at the South Lyon Medical Center.
Mr. Nowack was born July 20, 1932, in Chicago, to William and Katherine (Berntsen) Nowack.
He married Dorothy Arlene Miller Otey on Nov. 22, 1972, in Las Vegas.
Before moving to Yerington, Mr. Nowack lived in Meadview, Ariz.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than eight years.
He was a jet-engine mechanic in the military and civilian life. He enjoyed discussing and learning about the Old West.
Among his survivors are his wife, of Yerington; daughter Nannette Knecht of Yerington; son William Nowack Jr. of Round Mountain; stepchildren Marilyn Fowler of Oroville, Calif., and Terence Otey of Las Vegas; sisters Marion Lawyer of Orinda, Calif., and Dorothy Neal of Angwin, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
At his request, no services will be held.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
