BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): The Blue Lakes Road is now closed for the winter.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113): Man Oh Man, is it ever blowing hard this morning (Tuesday). The lake has completely shut down for me.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Greg Stump of Carson City reported that he caught a 5-pound rainbow from shore on the east side of the lake.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): Fishing off shore at Snallygaster has been producing limits for many this past week. Float your worms for best results.

Melanie and Jake Blakemore of Fallon caught 5 rainbows (1.5-2 pounds each) for their first time fishing. They were using nightcrawlers and orange Power Bait.

Fly fishing at Snallygaster has been good for float tubers using purple Woolly Bugger flies.

We are getting good reports for fishing at the dam and at Turkey Point.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Andy at the Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks at 358-6113: The fishing has been on and off. One time it is good, one time it is bad.

The guys most consistently catching fish are trolling fairly deep with Lyman or Flatfish lures. For fly fishermen, the Popcorn Beetle with a tail has been most consistent.

There are 10 pounders being reported every week.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: George Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store at (775) 476-0555 reported: It's really windy (Tuesday). The fishing has been good and the shore fishing is really picking up.

There were a couple of 12 pounders caught on lures at The Blockhouse.

We have been trolling (Pyramid Lake Charters) along the west side of the lake in deep water. Yesterday, we caught and released about 15 cutthroat, up to 24 inches.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Last week, George LaMonica of Douglas County, his wife Debbie and his brother Phil trolled south of Sutcliffe in 100 feet of water. They caught and released 12 Cutthroat with the largest two 5 pounds and 7.5 pounds). They were toplining with red/black lures.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Dave Jacobs/Hank Mautz (Professional Guide Service) (800-355-3113):

King Salmon: Fishing for fall run Kings has been fair this past week with fewer and fewer fall run Kings being caught. Guides are reporting 1-2 fish per boat this past week with some big fish weighed in over forty pounds. Fishing around the Barge Hole has produced mostly dark fall fish with a few bright late fall Kings mixed in.

Best bets have been sardine wrapped K-15 or K-16 Kwikfish lures in silver or gold color combos. Pink and pearl color combos are also a good bet this time of year. Roe tipped with a flame colored Quickie puffball has produced a few fish in the Barge Hole area.

Back- bouncing fresh sardine wrapped Kwikfish has been best bet for fishermen downstream.

Big fish of the week was a 40 pound late fall King caught on Nov. 19.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552):

Fishing has been good to excellent dependent on the day. We have been trolling at 180-380 feet with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

I've been fishing at Cal-Neva Point, Dollar Point and Sugar Pine Point. We've been catching 3-9 fish per trip.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: I've been trolling at Ski Run Shelf and Camp Richardson. We have been trolling at 180-280 feet with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows. The jiggers are jigging in water 160-240 feet deep, with White Star jigs or Squid jigs (tipped with a live minnow) at Ski Run Mound and Camp Richardson Shelf.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore: Gene St. Denis: Toplining for rainbows has been slow to very good dependent on the day at Eagle Point, Zephyr Cove, Deadman's Point and Sand Harbor.

TRUCKEE RIVER, NEV: Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store reported that the fishing is fairly decent for fly fishermen with Pheasant Tails or gold-back Hare's Ears in sizes No. 16 or 18.

WALKER LAKE, NEV: A report of some nice cutthroat trout, up to 3-4 pounds, caught on lures from shore by the houses on the south end of the lake.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Missa at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: The weather is beautiful (Tuesday morning). It is partly cloudy and the sun is shining. The fishing has been pretty darn good with lots of limits by both boats and shore fishermen. Nothing really super big being caught. The boats are trolling lures or nightcrawlers and the shore fishermen are using nightcrawlers or Power Bait.
