A memorial service for Vernon Lee Davis, 85, a 30-year Washoe Valley resident, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Davis died Nov. 19, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Holland, Mich., to Frank Davis and Salma Rudd.

Before moving to Washoe Valley, Mr. Davis lived in Irvine, Calif., for more than 15 years.

He was a high school graduate and had attended two years of college.

Mr. Davis was a land developer, a farmer and the owner of several mobile home parks.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a fighter pilot.

He enjoyed handball and flying his own airplanes.

Among his survivors are his son, Laird Davis of Washoe Valley; daughters Sherri Stowe of Winona, Mich., and Helene Davis of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; sister, Bonnie Killiam of Arizona; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
