A celebration of life for Don Hale, 78, a Gardnerville resident since 1979, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Hale died Nov. 23, 2006, at Barton Hospital in Gardnerville. He was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Fluvanna, Texas, to William Jesse Hale and Ara Beaver.

Before moving to Gardnerville, Mr. Hale lived in California.

Mr. Hale was a repair supervisor for Bell Telephone in San Mateo, Calif., and in Carson City for 30 years.

He was a volunteer firefighter for East Fork Fire Protection District for 21 years.

He enjoyed horse racing, hunting and silversmithing.

He was preceded in death by his brother Leon Hale and daughter Jessica Gomes.

Among his survivors are his wife, Pat Sevire of Gardnerville; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Sherrie Hale of Gardnerville; daughter, Sandy Hayes of Sacramento; brothers William Hale of Arizona and Benjamin Hale of Arkansas; five grandchildren; and a nephew.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
