Emil Pierre Mary, 79, a Carson City resident, died Nov. 27, 2006.

Mr. Mary was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Oakland, Calif., to Henry P. and Louise (Drapel) Mary. He grew up and attended school and Boy Scouts in Oakland.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Mary lived in Oakland and all around the San Francisco Bay area.

He married Johanna Lieby on Aug. 25, 1973, in Reno.

He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a carman mechanic for 35 years in West Oakland. He retired in 1980.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He belonged to the American Legion.

He enjoyed music and ships.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Among his survivors are his stepdaughters Ingrid Long of Carson City and Marie Bailon of Auburn, Calif.; stepson, Roland Lieby of Corvallis, Ore.; brother, Pierre Mary of Oakland; and two nephews.
